I start the new year ...
Working on music for the FUTUR 3 performance „A city accuses himself" (premiere on February 5th), completing the first series of workshops of the Ukrainian traditional polyphony with a presentations on January 19, enjoying the possibility of singing NIGHT in Warsaw 20 January!
To sing in Dresden was really not easy and very emotionally for me. There were Ukrainians, Germans in the audience. But also, there were people from Syria, Afghanistan, Palestina. One young man from Aleppo arrived just 2 month ago. I will not forget the intensity of how they were listening to the words of Serhiy Zhadan´s poem: „take only , what is most important…. We are refugees…we will run whole night…“ It reminded me the intensity, how people were listening to us , singing and reading poems, in 2014 in Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Sloviansk, Volnovacha…After that I was participating in charity concert in Kyiv- to support families of all Ukrainian political prisoners, kept in Russia. …
And next weekend „The NIGHT“ will be possible to hear Dec 8 in Center for World Music of University Hildesheim and Dec 9 in the Theater Kana in Szczecin.
Głosy z Ukrainy
Sobotnie koncerty były kolejną lekcją klasycznej już na Ethno Porcie różnorodności i otwartości - oraz korzyści, jakie z nich płyną. Był też kolejną - metaforyczną, kulturową i geograficzną, a wreszcie muzyczną - podróżą przez świat.
Rozpoczęła ją wspaniała Mariana Sadovska w Sali Wielkiej CK Zamek. Artystka mająca za sobą wielkie dokonania i chyba dość dobrze znana polskiej publiczności. Współpracowała wszak z Kwartetem Jorgi, Wojciechem Waglewskim, zespołem Stilo, ale też Jerzym Grotowskim czy OPT Gardzienice, komponowała dla słynnego Kronos Quartet, z którym też występowała. Na festiwalowej scenie pojawiła się tak jak najbardziej lubi - solo, a towarzyszyła sobie tylko na harmonium. Pozorna to skromność, bowiem talent, sceniczna osobowość i ekspresja, a nade wszystko wokalne umiejętności Sadovskiej powodują, że miało się poczucie pełni. Artystka przedstawiła program w dużej mierze tożsamy z materiałem ze świetnej płyty "Zozula", oparty na jej własnych badaniach terenowych, na podróżach po Ukrainie. Celebrując tradycję i przedstawiając pieśni, których nauczyła się jeżdżąc po wsiach, prezentuje sztukę na wskroś współczesną, aktualną. Trochę tu liryki, trochę śmiechu, zabawy i smutku. Wszystko to podane w znakomitej formie wokalnej - a do tego zapowiadane, opowiadane przez artystkę po polsku.

Polyphone Gesänge aus der Ukraine
Eine Workshop-Serie mit Mariana Sadovska in Köln
Alle, die gerne singen, und gerade diejenigen, die besonders gerne in die Polyphonie der traditionellen, ukrainischen Musik eintauchen möchten, lade ich ganz herzlich zu einer intensiven Workshop-Serie in Köln von Oktober 2018 – Januar 2019 ein. Ab Anfang Oktober treffen wir uns an insgesamt zehn Donnerstagen von 19–21Uhr. Am Ende des Workshops werden wir im Januar oder Februar ein kleines Konzert für unsere Freunde und Familie veranstalten.
In dieser Workshop-Serie werden wir mehrstimmige Lieder aus verschiedenen Regionen der Ukraine singen, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf winterlichen Ritualen. Dafür werden wir uns besonders mit dem Stimmklang beschäftigen, der durch die so genannte „Weiße Stimme“ entsteht.

Ihr braucht keine Noten lesen können und auch nicht Ukrainisch sprechen, etwas Erfahrung in Singen ist erwünscht.
Über mich:
Seit Jahren leite ich erfolgreich Stimm-Workshops für professionelle Sänger*innen oder engagierte Laien in verschiedenen Ländern rund um die Welt. Da ich in diesem Hebst hauptsächlich in Köln arbeite und ich so viele Anfragen von Euch bekommen habe, freue ich mich jetzt eine intensivere Begegnung mit ukrainischen Liedern zu ermöglichen. Und vielleicht kann ich mit Euch im Anschluss an diesen Workshop einen Traum erfüllen: einen dauerhaften Chor für ukrainischen Gesang etablieren.

Thank you Naturstimmen Festival for an incredible chance to meet, to sing, to share our passion with incredible Lena Willemark (Sweden), Anita Mahdia Daulne (Kongo) , Tamar Buadze (Georgia), Outi Pulkkinnen (Finland) and Nadja Räss ( Switzerland)! One week long we were "diving" into the traditional singing and music of our cultures, we were learning and teaching, discovering and creating. In one moment Anita compared us to the meeting of the Quinn bees. I just wish to have such chance again. To meet and sing with all of you again. And my biggest dream is to come with all of you to Ukraine!

What I will never forget, what became the most incredible experience for me, while my recent travel to the “grey zone”, to the front line of the war with damn Putin. It was such very simple and such unusual request of children – small kids 5-6 years old, but also teenagers, after our “workshops”, after singing together: could you, please, embrace me? And how strong where their hugs, and how, I wish, to be able to embrace them and to cover, to protect them from everything...And how absolutely unbelievable this request sounds in the western world, as well as an existence of School of Art in a small tiny city! And how those kids were listening...so many so open, attentive, trustful eyes. And how director of other School of Music, real post-soviet director, for whom the most important is, that his students will win the competitions, so he is successfully training them and showing them like a strange puppets, like animal in circus, suddenly told me: ”you know, this last 2 years so many kids came to us with such a huge talents!”
...Seems is a special way Nature choose, to protect this kids from the war, while giving them incredible voices, talent and sensitivity! And how can I forget the eyes, very sad eyes of those not many, but those real MUSIC THEACHERS, who are trying to open the doors to the world of music!
